A buoyancy aid you actually want to wear
Res-T comes from Zurich. Founder Marco Colombo is a former decathlete who kites and paddles, and he knows the problem from his own experience: when you are doing sport, the buoyancy vest is the first thing you leave behind.
That is why Res-T is a shirt first. Only when you pull the handle does it become a buoyancy aid with 80 N of buoyancy.

The idea
On a beach in Finland
Marco is in Finland with friends. They swim far out, more than 300 metres from the shore. Marco does not know the water and waits on the beach. There he wonders why nothing exists that would keep him safe without making him feel self-conscious.
-
Two years later
An accident on Lake Zurich
His girlfriend at the time slips while stand-up paddling and dislocates her shoulder. Nobody in the group notices. With her last strength she makes it back to shore on her own. After that, Marco starts on the first prototype.

Prototypes from the basement
The first attempt is a bin bag under a T-shirt. After that, Marco sews and welds four or five prototypes himself and gets advice from experts.

Res-T is made in Italy and shipped from Zurich and Germany. Testing continues on the water, from river surfing to kiting in Fuerteventura.

“As a child, I was one of the first to wear a helmet on the ski slopes, and I felt watched. Today everyone wears one and is happy to show it off. We want to bring about the same change with Res-T.”
Marco Colombo, founder of Res-T, in an interview with StartupValley, 2022 (translated, shortened)
